Graça Boal-Palheiros is Coordinating Professor at the Porto Polytechnic School of Education, Portugal, where she coordinates the master’s in music education. She holds a PhD in Music Psychology from the U. of Surrey Roehampton, and an MA in Music Education from the University of London Institute of Education. Former director of the research center CIPEM/INET-md, she coordinates the research group Education and Music in the Community. Her interests include children’s music listening and development, music teacher education and social inclusion. Graça has been member of the ISME Board and Executive, co-chair of the ISME Research Commission, president of the Portuguese Association of Music Education, editor of the APEM Journal, and is president of the Wuytack Association of Music Pedagogy. She has taught in several countries, has published one of the first books on research in music education in Portugal (APEM, 1993), and co-edited Challenges in Music Education (CIPEM, 2020).
