Jung Yoon Cho is currently pursuing a PhD in Education at the IOE (Institute of Education) under the supervision of Professor Graham Welch and Dr Jo Saunders. Her current research interests include exploring socio-economic factors that may have affected the uptake rate of GCSE music in England over the past two decades. Jung Yoon completed her BMus and MMus in Violin Performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She then achieved her PhD in Applied Musicology at the University of Leeds under the guidance of Professor Clive Brown and Professor Michael Allis. Her first doctoral studies focused on investigating late nineteenth-century performance practice, with a special reference to Brahms's Violin Sonatas. In her research, she also examined practical ways to explore historical performance practices as valuable sources of knowledge and inspiration for present-day performers. After completing her PhD, Jung Yoon also obtained a PGCE with QTS at the IOE. Jung Yoon previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Leeds Humanities Research Institute, University of Leeds, and was invited to give research seminars and lecture recitals at various venues, including Indiana University, Sydney Conservatoire, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Royal Academy of Music, and Leeds University. Currently, she serves as a member of the editorial board of The International Journal of Music, Health, and Wellbeing (IJMHW). Apart from being a researcher, Jung Yoon is also a secondary school teacher and a professional violinist. In her spare time, Jung Yoon enjoys performing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player.
