profile photo of Alice SprinkleAlice Sprinkle is a violist and doctoral researcher originally from University Park, Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance with Highest Honors from the University of Colorado Boulder (‘18), where she studied with Erika Eckert and Geraldine Walther. She earned a Master of Studies in Musicology from the University of Oxford (‘19) and a Master of Arts in Music Education with Distinction at the Institute of Education, University College London (‘20). Currently, she is earning a PhD in Music Education at UCL. Having won first prize in the American Viola Society’s 2018 David Dalton competition, her article Bach’s Slurs: Abandoned by the Editors was published in the Spring 2020 issue of the Journal of the American Viola Society. She also presented her research at the 2021 Virtual AVS Festival. As a performer, she has attended festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival & School, Interlochen Arts Camp, and the Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute. She has also completed several units of teacher training in the Suzuki Method. Living in Oxford, Alice plays regularly as an alumna with the Oxford University Orchestra and other local ensembles, and studies viola with Simon Rowland-Jones.
