Dr Yen-Ting Wu is a researcher and experienced music educator. She holds a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education (National Taiwan University of Education) and Master of Arts in Music Education (UCL Institute of Education) and is a qualified teacher for Kindergarten in Taiwan. Yen-Ting completed her PhD in UCL Institute of Education in 2018. Her doctoral study explored musical development of young children of the Chinese Diaspora in London. The findings suggest that these young children's musical development was both age-related and context-dependent. The study also raised awareness of the diverse nature of the musical environment of children before formal education. During her PhD, Yen-Ting was a recipient of the Scholarship For Overseas Study from the Ministry of Education, Taiwan. Yen-Ting has presented her work at several international conferences and received the World Conference Award at the ISME conference in 2016. Yen-Ting has published papers in conference proceedings and a peer-review journal, and also co-authored a number of invited book chapters. Yen-Ting worked in schools both in Taiwan and in the UK and has delivered music sessions to young children with Special Educational Needs. She is currently involved in an international project which explores infant-mother musical activities in the urbanised populations. Yen-Ting is a pianist and clarinetist and has participated in a number of choir presentations based in North London.
