Dr Tomoko Siromoto (Shiromoto) is an Honorary Research Associate at the UCL Institute of Education, and her research involves mainly comparative music education. She holds a BA in music education (Kobe University), a MMus (University of London) and a PhD (IOE, University of London), as well as Post-graduate piano performance and teaching diplomas (Royal Academy of Music). She has published papers in journals and conference proceedings, and has been awarded an Associateship from George Enescu University of Arts (CRIS), Iasi, Romania. She has taught the piano at Kensington and Chelsea College and schools in the UK, and co-organized music and cultural projects in Eastern Europe with local schools and institutions, under the auspices of the Japanese Embassies of the area, one of which was part of 'Donau Friendship Year 2009' project by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She has performed in many countries as a concerto soloist, ensemble player, soloist and accompanist, and broadcast in TV and radio programs.
